PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It is a procedure, not a medicine: a nurse or doctor draws some of your blood, spins it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and injects that concentrate into your scalp in a clinic.
PRP therapy has no EU marketing authorisation for hair loss. No doctor in the EU — including ours — can prescribe it, and it cannot be arranged online: you would need to attend a clinic in person.

Can I get it?

We don’t offer PRP today, but our doctors can review your case and propose an equivalent hair-growth treatment with EU authorisation.

What it is

A small amount of your own blood is taken and spun in a machine to concentrate the platelets, and that concentrate is then injected into the scalp in the hope that the growth factors platelets release will act on the hair follicles. Because it is a procedure using your own blood rather than a manufactured medicine, no medicines regulator has authorised it and there is no approved product information — what is injected depends on the individual clinic’s equipment and protocol.

What the studies reported

Every study behind PRP for hair loss is listed here with how many people took part and whether the results are peer-reviewed or a company announcement.
The published evidence is mixed: several trials report an increase in hair density, but reviewers judge the studies to be small, inconsistent and at risk of bias, and the review’s own conclusion is that more standardised, better-controlled trials are still needed.

What has been reported

Reaction data is limited to what the meta-analysis above recorded: 2 of the 9 randomised trials it covered reported adverse reactions after injection, and none reported a serious adverse reaction.

Available hair-growth treatments

A licensed doctor decides case by case. We never prescribe without evaluation.

Oral finasteride

A 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor taken daily. A doctor may prescribe it after reviewing your history and ruling out contraindications.

Oral minoxidil

Low-dose oral minoxidil, used off-label by some dermatologists. Requires close medical supervision for potential cardiovascular effects.

Topical minoxidil

Solution or foam applied directly to the scalp. Can be combined with other actives in a compounded formulation.

Dutasteride 0.5mg

A more potent 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor. Reserved for specific cases, always under medical evaluation.
