Server URL
Before you start
- Web only. OpenAI’s Help Center says custom MCP servers can be connected on the web only, not in the ChatGPT mobile apps.
- Plan. OpenAI’s Help Center says custom MCP servers with full access, including actions that change data, are for Business, Enterprise and Edu, and that Pro accounts get read and fetch actions only. On a plan with read-only access, Hi Doctor tools that change data (such as sending a message or submitting a questionnaire) are not usable.
- Workspace. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, an admin or owner may need to allow custom MCP servers first.
Add Hi Doctor
1
Add a custom MCP server
Go to ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus
button, then Add custom MCP server. Enter the name
Hi Doctor and a
short description.2
Connection and sign-in settings
Under the connection settings enter
https://mcp.hi-doctor.ai/mcp. When
you configure authentication, choose sign-in through the server (OAuth);
no client ID or secret is needed. Review the warning, select I
understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.3
Sign in on Hi Doctor
ChatGPT opens Hi Doctor’s sign-in page. Sign in, review the permissions
and approve, as described on
Connect. The site receiving
access should name
chatgpt.com.Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces
The steps above also work in a workspace, within the permissions your admin sets. Workspaces can also add Hi Doctor through the legacy custom app flow (Apps > Create, enter the server URL, Scan Tools, complete sign-in, Create; the app appears as a draft with a Dev label and admins publish it from Drafts). OpenAI labels this flow legacy; prefer the Plugins page above. Each person still signs in with their own Hi Doctor account; one person’s connection never gives another person access.Use it in a conversation
Start a new conversation, type@ in the prompt box and choose Hi Doctor. The
selection applies to the message where you make it, so mention the app again
when a follow-up needs new Hi Doctor data.
ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions that change data. It treats a tool as read
only when the tool carries a read-only hint. Hi Doctor sets that hint on
tools meant only to read your data; the hints for every tool are on the
patient tools reference. Keep confirmations on for
messages, questionnaire submission, checkout links and anything marked
destructive.
Refresh, reconnect or disconnect
- New or changed tools: open the app in ChatGPT Plugins and select Refresh.
- Signed out: start the connection again from the app and sign in on Hi Doctor.
- Disconnect: manage and disconnect apps in Settings > Plugins. See Disconnecting for how long already issued access lasts.
