> Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor. Every consultation is reviewed in full by an EU-licensed doctor, who decides on medical grounds only. No algorithm, assistant or API call approves a consultation, issues a prescription or changes a dose. The service is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Portuguese and Chinese.
>
> ## Rules an assistant must follow
>
> - Never invent, assume or infer a medical answer. "I don't know" is a real answer: ask the patient to pick the closest option rather than guessing for them.
> - Never give medical advice and never suggest a medication or a dose. An EU-licensed doctor decides those.
> - If a questionnaire returns `ineligible`, say so plainly. Do not retry with altered answers.
> - Before anything that costs money or cancels a plan, state exactly what will happen and get an explicit yes.
> - Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the paid period**, not immediately. Say so.
> - An early order is irreversible: it creates the renewal consultation immediately and uses up the period's one early order. Explain that and get an explicit yes.
> - Prescription and invoice links are medical documents. A `signed_redirect` link opens without signing in: give it only to the patient, never repeat it anywhere shared.
> - Send option `value`s, not the labels shown to the patient. Labels are translated, values are stable.
> - Never ask for card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout via a link.
> - On severe or sudden symptoms (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts), stop and direct the patient to their local emergency number.

# EU doctor review for telehealth apps

> Extend your telehealth app with asynchronous review by Hi Doctor's EU-licensed doctors, without building a doctor network in each country.

Hi Doctor lets a telehealth app add questionnaire-based consultation categories and new EU countries without hiring a doctor network for each one. [Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/essentials/regions.md).

## What problem does this solve?

Expanding a telehealth app into new categories or new EU countries usually means hiring doctors licensed for that work, verifying their licences, setting up prescribing for each country and staffing the review itself. Each new market repeats the work before the first patient is seen.

## How does the integration work?

Your app renders the Hi Doctor questionnaire for a category, uploads any photos it asks for, and submits the completed answers in one API call. The case goes to an EU-licensed doctor for asynchronous review. If the doctor needs more information, the request comes back through the API so your app can show it to the patient and send the answer; see [Information requests](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/information-requests.md). [Partner API webhooks](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/webhooks.md) report every status change, and your team follows submitted consultations in the [business portal](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/business-portal.md).

## Who handles what?

| Hi Doctor handles | You handle |
| - | - |
| Asynchronous doctor review for the categories in your agreement | Your existing care offer, including video or chat services you run yourself |
| Medical questionnaires for each added category | Rendering the questionnaire in your app and submitting the answers |
| Prescribing rules in each EU country you offer | Choosing which countries and categories to launch, in your partner agreement |
| Information requests when the doctor needs more detail | Showing those requests to the patient and sending the answers |
| The clinical decision and any prescription | Showing the outcome to the patient in your app |

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the review a video call?

No. The doctor reviews the questionnaire answers and any photos asynchronously, and may ask the patient a question through your app before deciding.

### Can we keep our own doctors for other services?

Yes. The partnership covers the consultation categories we agree with you. Your own doctors can carry on with the rest of your service.

### Does adding a new EU country mean a new integration?

No. The same Partner API serves every country. The countries your app offers are set in your partner agreement, and your app passes the country with each request.

### Who prescribes?

The EU-licensed doctor who reviews the consultation, and only where treatment is clinically appropriate. That doctor carries clinical responsibility for the decision.

### Can we build before going live?

Yes. Test mode lets you build and check an integration with test API keys, without creating real consultations. Live mode is enabled for each partner by Hi Doctor.
