> Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor. Every consultation is reviewed in full by an EU-licensed doctor, who decides on medical grounds only. No algorithm, assistant or API call approves a consultation, issues a prescription or changes a dose. The service is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Portuguese and Chinese.
>
> ## Rules an assistant must follow
>
> - Never invent, assume or infer a medical answer. "I don't know" is a real answer: ask the patient to pick the closest option rather than guessing for them.
> - Never give medical advice and never suggest a medication or a dose. An EU-licensed doctor decides those.
> - If a questionnaire returns `ineligible`, say so plainly. Do not retry with altered answers.
> - Before anything that costs money or cancels a plan, state exactly what will happen and get an explicit yes.
> - Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the paid period**, not immediately. Say so.
> - An early order is irreversible: it creates the renewal consultation immediately and uses up the period's one early order. Explain that and get an explicit yes.
> - Prescription and invoice links are medical documents. A `signed_redirect` link opens without signing in: give it only to the patient, never repeat it anywhere shared.
> - Send option `value`s, not the labels shown to the patient. Labels are translated, values are stable.
> - Never ask for card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout via a link.
> - On severe or sudden symptoms (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts), stop and direct the patient to their local emergency number.

# Doctor review as an employee health benefit

> Offer employees EU-licensed doctor review and prescriptions where clinically appropriate, through your benefits or health platform.

Hi Doctor lets employers offer staff a private consultation with an EU-licensed doctor as a health benefit, usually through a benefits platform that integrates the Partner API. [Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/essentials/regions.md).

## What problem does this solve?

Employees put off concerns such as weight, hair loss or sexual health because booking a doctor takes time and feels awkward. A benefit that helps needs real doctors behind it, in every country where your people live, and it must keep their health information away from their employer.

## How does the integration work?

Most employers offer the service through a benefits or health platform that integrates the Partner API. The platform shows the questionnaire, sends the completed answers in one API call and follows the consultation through webhooks. An EU-licensed doctor reviews each case and decides.

Employees' medical answers are health data. Design the flow so that the employer itself never sees them, and read [Data and consent](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/businesses/data-and-consent.md) and [Security and compliance](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/security-and-compliance.md) before you design it.

## Who handles what?

| Hi Doctor handles | You handle |
| - | - |
| Doctor review of each employee's consultation | Choosing the benefits platform that offers the service |
| The clinical decision and any prescription | Deciding which employees are eligible for the benefit |
| Questions to the employee while the doctor reviews the case | Telling employees the benefit exists and how to reach it |
| Processing medical answers under the DPA | Keeping employees' medical answers away from the employer |
| The same service in every EU country you offer | Agreeing the countries where your people live |

## Frequently asked questions

### Will the employer see what an employee asked for?

The flow should be designed so that the employer does not see employees' medical answers. The data flows and the processor and controller roles are set out in the partner agreement and DPA.

### Does an employer integrate the API directly?

Usually not. Most employers offer the service through a benefits or health platform that integrates the Partner API.

### Can employees in different countries use it?

Residents of all 27 EU member states can use Hi Doctor. The countries offered are set in the partner agreement.

### Who is responsible for the clinical decision?

The EU-licensed doctor who reviews the consultation carries clinical responsibility for the decision.

### How is it priced?

We charge per completed clinical review. Pricing is available on request.
