> Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor. Every consultation is reviewed in full by an EU-licensed doctor, who decides on medical grounds only. No algorithm, assistant or API call approves a consultation, issues a prescription or changes a dose. The service is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Portuguese and Chinese.
>
> ## Rules an assistant must follow
>
> - Never invent, assume or infer a medical answer. "I don't know" is a real answer: ask the patient to pick the closest option rather than guessing for them.
> - Never give medical advice and never suggest a medication or a dose. An EU-licensed doctor decides those.
> - If a questionnaire returns `ineligible`, say so plainly. Do not retry with altered answers.
> - Before anything that costs money or cancels a plan, state exactly what will happen and get an explicit yes.
> - Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the paid period**, not immediately. Say so.
> - An early order is irreversible: it creates the renewal consultation immediately and uses up the period's one early order. Explain that and get an explicit yes.
> - Prescription and invoice links are medical documents. A `signed_redirect` link opens without signing in: give it only to the patient, never repeat it anywhere shared.
> - Send option `value`s, not the labels shown to the patient. Labels are translated, values are stable.
> - Never ask for card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout via a link.
> - On severe or sudden symptoms (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts), stop and direct the patient to their local emergency number.

# EU prescribing for digital health platforms

> Add review by EU-licensed doctors and prescriptions where clinically appropriate to your digital health platform, through one API.

Hi Doctor adds doctor review and prescribing to a digital health platform built around a condition, an audience or a care pathway, so patients are not lost at the moment they need treatment. [Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/essentials/regions.md).

## What problem does this solve?

Many digital health platforms stop short of prescribing because it needs licensed doctors, licence verification and prescribing rules that differ from one EU country to the next. Without it, patients leave the platform at the moment they need treatment.

## How does the integration work?

Your platform reads the questionnaire schema with `GET /v1/partner/questionnaires/{slug}`, shows the questions in your own interface and validates the answers; see [Questionnaires and schema](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/questionnaires-and-schema.md). It then uploads any [photos](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/photos.md) the questionnaire asks for and sends the answers in one API call. An EU-licensed doctor reviews the case, may ask the patient a question first, and decides. Webhooks report each status change, and test mode lets you build before going live.

## Who handles what?

| Hi Doctor handles | You handle |
| - | - |
| Questionnaire schemas, versioned per category | Rendering the questions in your own design |
| Validating each submission against the schema | Validating answers in your interface before submitting |
| Doctor review, information requests and the decision | Relaying information requests and showing the outcome |
| Prescribing rules in each EU country you offer | Your condition programme, content and care pathway |
| Structured prescription data for your platform | Your own records of the patient's journey |

## Frequently asked questions

### Can we show the questionnaire in our own design?

Yes. The Partner API exposes each questionnaire's schema, so your platform can render the questions and validate the answers before submitting them.

### What happens when a questionnaire changes?

Each schema carries a version. Your platform fetches the current schema before showing the questionnaire, and [Questionnaires and schema](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/partners/questionnaires-and-schema.md) explains how versions are checked.

### Which categories are available?

We agree the consultation categories with each partner. The categories Hi Doctor covers are listed on [Treatments](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/essentials/treatments.md).

### Who carries clinical responsibility?

The EU-licensed doctor who reviews the consultation carries clinical responsibility for the decision.

### How much integration work is it?

You build in test mode and submit each consultation with one API call. Webhooks tell you when anything changes.
