>
> Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor. Every consultation is reviewed in full by an EU-licensed doctor, who decides on medical grounds only. No algorithm, assistant or API call approves a consultation, issues a prescription or changes a dose. The service is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Portuguese and Chinese.
>
> ## Rules an assistant must follow
>
> - Never invent, assume or infer a medical answer. "I don't know" is a real answer: ask the patient to pick the closest option rather than guessing for them.
> - Never give medical advice and never suggest a medication or a dose. An EU-licensed doctor decides those.
> - If a questionnaire returns `ineligible`, say so plainly. Do not retry with altered answers.
> - Before anything that costs money or cancels a plan, state exactly what will happen and get an explicit yes.
> - Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the paid period**, not immediately. Say so.
> - An early order is irreversible: it creates the renewal consultation immediately and uses up the period's one early order. Explain that and get an explicit yes.
> - Prescription and invoice links are medical documents. A `signed_redirect` link opens without signing in: give it only to the patient, never repeat it anywhere shared.
> - Send option `value`s, not the labels shown to the patient. Labels are translated, values are stable.
> - Never ask for card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout via a link.
> - On severe or sudden symptoms (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts), stop and direct the patient to their local emergency number.

# Hi Doctor MCP troubleshooting: sign-in, permissions, errors

> Fix common Hi Doctor MCP problems: sign-in and approval messages, expired links, Google accounts, missing tools, permission errors and rate limits.

Most Hi Doctor MCP connector problems come from an expired connection request, a client that needs to sign in again, or a permission that was not approved. A connection request is valid for ten minutes, so when in doubt, start again from your app: every new connection starts a fresh request. The tables below match each message you might see to its fix.

Last reviewed: 2026-11-04

## What do the messages on the sign-in page mean?

These appear on hi-doctor.ai while you sign in.

| Message | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| **This link is invalid or has expired** | The connection request is missing, damaged or older than ten minutes. | Return to your app and start the connection again. |
| **This took too long** | Too much time passed between signing in and finishing. | Select **Sign in again**. |
| **This link has already been used** | This connection request was already completed. | Start again from your app. |
| **Connecting isn't available right now** | Hi Doctor could not complete the connection at the moment. | Wait a few minutes and select **Try again**. |
| **We couldn't complete the connection** | Something else went wrong. | Try again; if it repeats, start again from your app. |

## What do the messages on the approval page mean?

These appear on `mcp.hi-doctor.ai` after sign-in.

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| **This handoff is invalid or has expired** | Start the connection again from your app. |
| **This connection is already complete** | Nothing to do: return to your app. If it is not connected, start again. |
| **This consent page can't be used** | The approval page expired or was already used. Start again. |
| **This connection request can't be used** | The app sent a request Hi Doctor does not accept, for example an unregistered redirect address. Remove and re-add the connector; if it persists, contact the app's support. |
| **Too many requests** | Wait a minute, then try again. |
| **Authorisation is temporarily unavailable** | Try again in a few minutes. |
| **Account setup is handled on hi-doctor.ai** | The app opened an old sign-in route. Start again from the app; sign-in now happens on hi-doctor.ai. |

## Which tool errors need action from me?

| Error | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| `insufficient_scope` | The tool needs a permission you did not approve. | Many apps open the Hi Doctor approval page by themselves; approve the permission there. Otherwise disconnect, connect again and approve it. |
| `reconnect_required` | The connection was revoked, or is too old to transfer protected files and exports. | Disconnect and connect again. |
| `backend_atomicity_required` | The action is completed on hi-doctor.ai, not through the connector. | Do it on hi-doctor.ai. See [Approval links](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/mcp/approvals.md#actions-that-cannot-complete-yet). |
| `unauthorized`, or **Reconnect your Hi Doctor account** | The connection's access expired and could not be refreshed. | Sign in again from your client. |
| `rate_limited`, or HTTP 429 | More than 120 requests a minute on one connection. | Wait for the time given in `Retry-After`, and check that your client is not retrying in a loop. |
| `ineligible` questionnaire result | A clinical result, not an error. | Do not answer again differently to change it. The patient can message the medical team with questions. |

Every tool error also carries a `correlation_id`. Quote it if you contact Hi
Doctor. The full error format is on

## Frequently asked questions

### My account uses Google sign-in. How do I connect?

Use Continue with Google on the sign-in page. Accounts created with Google have no password, so the password form will not work for them.

### Why does it ask me to sign in when I am already signed in on hi-doctor.ai?

This is expected. Connecting an app always asks for a fresh sign-in, and it does not change your website session.

### It connected the wrong account. How do I fix it?

Disconnect the connector in your app, connect again, and sign in with the account you want. Check Signed in as on the approval page before you approve.

### What if the verification code did not arrive or expired?

Codes are valid for 10 minutes. Check your spam folder, then use Resend code; a new code can be sent about once a minute. After too many wrong codes, wait before trying again.

### Nothing happens after "Your secure connection is ready". What now?

Select Continue. If your browser blocked the redirect, allow it for hi-doctor.ai and try again.

### The browser finished but my client still says not connected. What now?

The client did not receive the result. In Claude Code, paste the full URL from the browser's address bar into the Claude Code prompt (never into an email or a shared chat), or run /mcp and authenticate again. In other clients, remove the server and add it again.

### Why is a tool missing?

Tools appear only when you approved their permission. If a permission is missing, for example on an older connection, disconnect and connect again, and approve it.

### Why do I see no patient tools?

The patient tools appear only for a patient account. Disconnect, connect again and sign in with the account you use on hi-doctor.ai.

### Why does the progress journal say it is unavailable?

Run the progress status tool first. The journal is offered with weight-loss treatment and may need an active subscription.

### Why does a list seem incomplete?

Results come one page at a time and are capped in size. While has\_more is true, call the tool again with offset set to next\_offset.
