# CagriSema — not authorised, and what to take instead

> CagriSema has finished phase 3 trials but has no EU marketing authorisation. What that means, and the authorised alternative a doctor can prescribe.

CagriSema is a once-weekly injection that combines two appetite-reducing hormone copies in one pen: semaglutide, which acts like the gut hormone GLP-1, and cagrilintide, which acts like amylin, a hormone released by the pancreas after eating. It has finished large phase 3 studies, but no medicines regulator anywhere has approved it.

<Warning>
  CagriSema has no marketing authorisation anywhere in the world. Novo Nordisk filed an application with the United States regulator on 18 December 2025, and no marketing authorisation has been granted in the European Union. No doctor in the EU — including Hi-Doctor's — can legally prescribe it, and no EU pharmacy can dispense it. Anything sold online under this name is not a licensed medicine.

## Can I get it?

Not yet, and not from anyone in the EU. CagriSema is still being studied; it has no marketing authorisation, so it cannot legally be prescribed or dispensed here outside a clinical trial. That is the law, not a limitation of any one clinic.

## What can I take instead?

Semaglutide is approved in the EU, has published peer-reviewed trial results, and can be prescribed today if a doctor decides it suits a case. It has been authorised in the EU since 6 January 2022.

## How CagriSema works

It copies GLP-1, a hormone the gut releases after a meal, which reduces appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties, alongside a copy of amylin acting on calcitonin/amylin receptors.

## What the studies reported

Every trial behind CagriSema is listed here with its registry number and whether the results are peer-reviewed or a company announcement. Results are grouped by source and evidence grade so journal data and manufacturer announcements cannot be confused.

## A note on comparing to semaglutide

Semaglutide's own weight-loss evidence, from its STEP 1 trial, measured mean change with the 2.4 mg once-weekly dose at 68 weeks; the placebo arm's mean change was −2.4%. This is a separate trial from CagriSema's REDEFINE studies, not a direct comparison — results for CagriSema may come from a different dose, duration and patient group.

## How Hi-Doctor handles it

The product is the online doctor consultation. A licensed doctor decides case by case, and treatment — and a prescription — follow only if the doctor approves. Renewals are reviewed by the same doctor, with ongoing care available for as long as a plan is active.
