# Female hair loss treatment guide

> How to use topical minoxidil and oral medicines for female pattern hair loss, what changes to expect at 3, 6 and 12 months, and when to contact your doctor.

Female pattern hair loss treatment aims to stabilise hair loss and promote
regrowth. The approach depends on how much of the scalp is affected — from
topical minoxidil alone for mild cases, to combined oral therapy for more
advanced hair loss. Results require patience: it takes 6–12 months of
consistent use before effectiveness can be judged.

## How to use

A regimen may be topical only, oral only, or both — the doctor decides which
applies to you.
