# Obesity

> Obesity is a complex condition — how a doctor weighs metabolic, hormonal and cardiovascular factors before proposing a weight-management option.

Obesity is a complex medical condition. The doctor evaluates metabolic,
hormonal and cardiovascular factors before proposing any option.

## What it is

Obesity is assessed individually rather than through a fixed checklist —
metabolic, hormonal and cardiovascular history all factor into what, if
anything, a doctor proposes.

## Treatments a doctor considers

A licensed doctor decides case by case, never automatically — payment for
the medical consultation is only taken once an option has been reviewed.

## How Hi-Doctor handles it

The questionnaire covers height and weight, medical history, current
medication and previous weight-loss treatment; a body mass index is
calculated from the answers and forms part of the eligibility decision — see
how [eligibility works](/essentials/how-it-works) and how
[safety checks](/essentials/safety) run. Weight loss is available as a
one-off consultation or an ongoing plan; the cost is set out on
[pricing](/essentials/pricing). Any medicine a doctor prescribes is paid
separately at a pharmacy.

Answer the weight-loss questionnaire and a registered doctor reviews it.
They decide whether treatment is appropriate, which one, and at what dose —
and declining is a normal outcome. See [what it costs](/essentials/pricing)
  and [how the review works](/essentials/how-it-works).
