> Connect the Hi Doctor MCP connector at https://mcp.hi-doctor.ai/mcp. Add this URL as a remote HTTP MCP server in your client, then sign in and authorise access through OAuth. Setup: https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/mcp/connect.
>
> The REST API base is https://api.hi-doctor.ai. Hi Doctor Docs at https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/mcp searches documentation; connect to the product endpoint above for patient tools.
>
> Hi Doctor operates across the whole European Union: residents of all 27 EU member states can use the service, and every consultation is reviewed by an EU-licensed doctor. Every consultation is reviewed in full by an EU-licensed doctor, who decides on medical grounds only. No algorithm, assistant or API call approves a consultation, issues a prescription or changes a dose. The service is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Portuguese and Chinese.
>
> ## Rules an assistant must follow
>
> - Never invent, assume or infer a medical answer. "I don't know" is a real answer: ask the patient to pick the closest option rather than guessing for them.
> - Never give medical advice and never suggest a medication or a dose. An EU-licensed doctor decides those.
> - If a questionnaire returns `ineligible`, say so plainly. Do not retry with altered answers.
> - Before anything that costs money or cancels a plan, state exactly what will happen and get an explicit yes.
> - Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the paid period**, not immediately. Say so.
> - An early order is irreversible: it creates the renewal consultation immediately and uses up the period's one early order. Explain that and get an explicit yes.
> - Prescription and invoice links are medical documents. A `signed_redirect` link opens without signing in: give it only to the patient, never repeat it anywhere shared.
> - Send option `value`s, not the labels shown to the patient. Labels are translated, values are stable.
> - Never ask for card details. Payment happens on Stripe's hosted checkout via a link.
> - On severe or sudden symptoms (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts), stop and direct the patient to their local emergency number.

# Hi Doctor patient REST API changelog

> Track patient REST API documentation changes, authentication and recovery clarifications, and the boundaries of current integration contracts.

This changelog records changes to the Hi Doctor patient REST API and its documentation, newest first. Existing operation IDs, request shapes and responses stay unchanged unless an entry says otherwise. Changes to the AI assistant connector are tracked separately in the [MCP changelog](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/mcp/changelog.md).

## 2026-11-04: Reference cleanup

* The marketing attribution and funnel event endpoints are no longer part of the published patient reference. They were never needed to sign a patient in, run a consultation or read records.
* The [guided questionnaire endpoints](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/questionnaire-guide.md) are documented with English, Spanish and Chinese copy (`locale=en`, `es` or `zh`).
* [Uploads and downloads](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/uploads-downloads.md) now states that photo and document uploads accept an `Idempotency-Key`, matching the [safe retries guide](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/idempotency.md).
* [Sign up](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/signup.md) lists the 27 country codes accepted for the country of residence.
* Authentication and errors now document the verification\_required sign-in code and the Retry-After header on account cooldowns.

## 2026-10-07: Guided questionnaires and safe retries

Live in production since 7 October 2026.

* New [guided questionnaire endpoints](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/questionnaire-guide.md): `current/`, `answer/`, `back/` and `review/` under `/v1/users/questionnaires/{slug}/`. They apply the branching and validation rules for you and support skips of optional questions, grid and follow-up sub-items, atomic batches and optimistic revisions (`409 stale_revision`).
* New [`Idempotency-Key`](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/idempotency) header on questionnaire submission, messages, checkout, subscription changes, photo uploads and document uploads, with `GET /v1/users/idempotency/{key}/` to reconcile an uncertain write. Keys are kept for 30 days.
* Updated [errors and recovery](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/errors.md) for keyed writes.
* Existing operation IDs, request shapes and responses are unchanged. Requests without the new header behave as before.

## 2026-10-06: Integration guidance

* Added the [agent entry point](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/ai/index.md), [agent quickstart](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/ai/quickstart.md), curated machine-readable indexes and capability skill.
* Updated [REST quickstart](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/quickstart.md) and [authentication](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/authentication.md) to separate patient JWTs, product MCP OAuth and public docs search.
* Corrected [error examples and recovery](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/errors.md): field-error arrays, Google-only account handling, cooldown body hints, HTML errors and uncertain-write reconciliation.
* Clarified existing list envelopes and safe continuation. No unified cursor pagination was introduced.
* The canonical public specification is [OpenAPI](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/openapi.json).

## What stays compatible?

These documentation updates do not rename operation IDs, tool names, scopes or error codes. Consumers should check the current endpoint schema and the relevant changelog before upgrading.

Idempotency keys apply only to the endpoints listed in the [safe retries guide](https://docs.hi-doctor.ai/api-reference/idempotency.md). There is no RFC 9457 response contract, quota-header guarantee or universal retry policy. No fixed deprecation notice period is promised here.
